Inspiring Hope with the August Paper Pumpkin

Happy Friday! I hope you’ve had a happy & productive week. Even more, I hope you have a great weekend with a little R&R.

Today I’m featuring this month’s Paper Pumpkin called the Hope Box. Our Stampin’ Up co-founder, Shelli Gardner, designed this kit. The shipping box can be transformed into a decorative “Hope Box” to hold those things that instill hope for you. Favorite pictures, quotes, Bible verses, trinkets from travels or any memento that uplifts your spirits. The supplies to decorate the box are included.

Each month, on the 4th Thursday at 2 p.m. CST, I unbox & make the month’s Paper Pumpkin kit live on my Facebook page, Stamp with MJ. Join me or watch the replay.

The 4th Friday evening, I host in my home a Paper Pumpkin club for my subscriber friends. I’ll make my box with them. We have lots of laughs, a free alternative card to make & some refreshments. If you live in the St. Louis area, I’d love for you to join us.

Below are the cards from the kit. The envelope is peeking out from behind the card.

I made the below alternative card using the kit’s stamp set & my own supplies. My club friends will be making it too.

I cut a 5” x 3.75” piece of Pattern Party DSP; then I cut a 0.75” piece off the left side & turned it over to the b/w striped side. Using my Tombow liquid glue, I adhered the pieces to a Basic Black card base.

The Hope sentiment was stamped onto a 3” x 2.75” piece of Vellum using Stazon black ink. I stamped that cute little butterfly from the kit’s stamp set onto card stock scraps of Poppy Parade, Bermuda Bay and Granny Apple Green & then fussy cut them.

I adhered the vellum sentiment using the extra glue dots from my kit. I wrapped a piece of the gorgeous black & white gingham ribbon from the mini catalog. (I ❤️ this ribbon!)

Last, I added a white panel to the inside that was fancied up with a 0.25 piece of the DSP.

  • Supplies: Stampin’ Up
  • Cardstock- Basic Black 8.5 x 5.5; scored at 4.25 for the card base; scraps of Poppy Parade, Bermuda Bay & Granny Apple Green
  • Vellum
  • Stazon Ink in Jet Black
  • Black & White Gingham ribbon

I hope you like your kit as much as I do!

Have a great Friday!

Happy Stamping! Marilyn (aka MJ)
