Shaded Summer in Magenta

Hi Friends!

I rarely make non-A2 (4.25 x 5.5) cards but I wanted to mix it up a bit so I made this 6 x 6 square card.

Years ago I bought a box of large, square envelopes & in my stamp stash I have a Stampin Up set with the stamp “extra postage required”- perfect for this card. I saved the set as I knew it come in handy. I have no idea the year it was made but I’ve been stamping since 2005 so it could be quite old. Anyone know? Regardless, the image is still crisp & clean. Gotta’ love Stampin’Up’s quality!

A black & white card paired with a bold color makes such a classy card, don’t you think? Here my black and white focal point is surrounded by Magenta Madness. To keep the the diamond design & break up the large Magenta Madness border, I scored the front diagonally.

I used the Shaded Summer stamp set & the free Sale-a-bration dies to cut the beautiful flower image stamped in black ink. (Unfortunately, Sale-a-bration is over so I hope you took advantage of getting the dies). I popped the image up with dimensionals & put it on a black & white diamond platform.

On the inside I used the smaller floral image & double stamped in black & the less bold Polished Pink . I left plenty of room on the inside for a personal message. If you’re going big with the card size, go big & write a long, lovely note to the recipient.

It was enjoyable to mix it up by creating this larger card, but definitely challenging! And to me, artistic challenges are always fun.

Have a great Wednesday & Happy Stamping! Marilyn (aka MJ)
