Birthday Tulips

Yesterday was our youngest daughter’s birthday. She is a lovely, beautiful young adult who works very hard at a dream job in her field. She and her handsome husband live about 40 minutes away so we don’t see them on a daily basis. 😦 I mailed this card with a special “birthday present” check tucked inside from My Mister (her Dad) and I.

She loves elephants and I’ve bought & used just about every elephant stamp that Stampin’ Up has ever made (Good Luck, Henry Says, elebration birthday single stamp, little elephant stamps & builder punch to name just a few). And I still have all of them since that’s her favorite. But this year I wanted to switch it up & send just a beautiful card that represents her beauty, both inside and out.

She has always been our “little sunshine” so I decided to use So Saffron card stock as the base & topped with a piece of So Saffron that was embossed with our Tasteful Textures EF (Embossing Folder). Over that layer, I added a piece of vellum with the corner cut with the geometric collection of tiny squares from the Tulip Dies.

For the tulips the “Simply Marbelous” DSP in Bumblebee- Saffron and also Balmy Blue-Misty Moonlight from the Sale-a-bration catalog was used. It’s a wonderful collection of blended, gradient colors that work great for all sorts of images such as these tulips.

There is no “right” way to put the tulips together; you can look at the catalog images for ideas. I watched a few YouTube videos but most people had their own idea on how the pieces went together so I went with my own idea. Just pioneer your own way!

When making this card, I tried to add some bling or ribbon, but that took away from the beauty of the flowers. I just love the look of the tulips against the vellum! The sentiment is from the Flowering Tulip stamp set too; there are a lot of wonderful sentiments- I like the Thank You the best but not appropriate for a birthday card- LOL!
