InKing Royalty Blog Hop- Oceans & Seas

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s April Blog Hop! As the weather gets warmer, it’s time to start planning our trips to the beach, the lake or the in-town aquarium. Today we’re sharing projects inspired by the ocean and sea – we are excited to share our creations and hope you love them! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

I have a double treat for you today! First, as previously mentioned the InKing Royalty’s blog hop theme- Oceans & Seas. The second treat is that I used our new Stampin’ Up In Colors & two more new things.

You probably know that every year Stampin’ Up releases five (5) on trend colors which we get to use for two years. I am just over the moon about these colors; after all, there are two blue shades, Starry Sky and Tahitian Tide. There’s a bright green called Parakeet Party. Sweet Sorbet is a pretty red & Orchid Oasis is a rich purple.

Seas the Day stamps and dies (bundle #157858) which are in the Jan- June mini catalog (page). I love that the die cuts have a large background die that cuts a panel. I diecut a 4 x 5.25 piece of Tahitian Tide. (HINT: Save those little “popped out” bubbles (circles) for later use).

The Tahitian Tide panel was mounted on a piece of In-Color glimmer paper in Starry Sky. I know it looks a little purple-y. That’s because Starry Sky has a purple undertone & the paper is ombre’. I put the lighter at the top of the card to simulate the sea with the light closer to the surface. You can’t see much of the dark at the bottom. But you’ll get a good look at Starry Sky with the inside” pics.

Did you know that our glimmer paper does not lose it’s sparkle? Remember the days when we wore sparkle from our paper as part of our outfits? No more- with Stampin’ Up’s glimmer paper your hands and clothes are glitter free. Gotta love that!

I also die cut sections of the background die for the plants (Parakeet Party) and for the coral (Sweet Sorbet). Then I adhered the plant and coral “paper pieces” on top of the Tahitian Tide. The fun octopus is a tone-on-tone with Orchid Oasis paper and ink. His eyes are Classic Matte Dots in black.

Public Service announcement: An octopus can change colors according to the environment; its eyes are low & on the side of his head. If you look at a picture of a live octopus his eyes are actually on the “neck”- the narrow band between his head and tentacles. But human-drawn octopus place the eyes higher like I did. Apparently, we humans find that high eyes make for a “cuter” octopus. Source: the internet & there is only the truth on the web, right? LOL

The sentiment from this set is inked with Orchid Oasis & stamped on Parakeet Party card stock & then die cut with the NEW Stitched Shapes dies. Seriously consider these- there are 15 total (6 circles, 5 squares, 4 banners). I already know this will probably be used over and over. I love the look of a stitched sentiment or stitched panel. Polished Dots (#158134) from the mini catalog were added to the corners.

I added those saved punched out circles on top of the glimmer paper with a fine tip glue pin (#138309). YAY!! It’s BACK! I am thrilled that we have this adhesive again. But it’s not for everyone… the tip is so narrow that it can clog easy when the pinned lid is not immediately replaced. If you can commit to capping right away, you will probably love it. If that’s not you, it might frustrate you. I’ve had mine for three years. When you need precision glue-ing, this is your pal. Just look at those two tiny circles in Starry Sky.

Here are a few pictures of the inside of the card. I stamped the sentiment & plant in Parakeet Party on white with a narrow piece of glimmer paper. The sentiment is from Nuts about Squirrels which carried over from the 2021 June-December mini.
