Paper Pumpkin plus Alternative Cards

Happy Thursday, friends! I’m posting my December ’22 Paper Pumpkin creations. It always seems to throw me off a bit when I talk about the Paper Pumpkin kits according the their month. This December kit is not for December holidays . It has things for January & the start of the another wonderful year. On my post tomorrow, I’ll explain in a little more detail why it seems “off” sometimes.

A look of all 16 boxes in a variety of designs.

This kit is getting us ready for the new year; the little boxes hold gift cards (or cash), candy or other little somethings. The occasions that are featured include New Baby, Birthday, Graduation and a general Congrats that could be used for a Wedding or Wedding shower. Make your kit and you’re sure to have a head start on this year’s milestone events.

The contents of the December 2022 kit. So much!

One of the things that we can count on with Stampin’ Up is quality products. These are boxes and their sleeves are sturdy, making them easy to create with. The Stampin’ Up Paper Pumpkin instructions are easy to follow, however, as your demonstrator, I am here to help you. I make my kits each month so I can advise easily. Never hesitate to reach out.

Below are the boxes I made; I followed the directions so you could see the boxes close up. I always like to make the products as intended so I can best advise.

All four boxes made according to directions.

I also enjoy making alternatives; something that uses the kit contents in a different way. Sometimes I add something not from the kit such as Designer Series Paper, matching cardstock or use a different stamp. Below is a picture from Stampin’ Up showing some alternatives from other artists. WOW! such talent!

Below are two of my card creations. {I’ll have two more cards for you tomorrow.} I took each theme & created a card. Here are the Baby & Birthday cards.

Baby and Birthday Cards using Paper Pumpkin December ’23 kit

A close up of the birthday card:

Directions for the Birthday card:

  • Cut a base of Blushing Bride to 8.5″ x 5.5″; Score the 8.5″ side at 4-1/4.
  • Cut the double sided sleeve at score lines. Alternating the pattern, mount four pieces of the confetti & stripes onto a 5-3/8″ x 3-1/4″ of Tahitian Tide cardstock. If desired, add a 1/4″ x 3-1/4″ piece of Tahitian Tide to break up the pattern. Set aside.
  • Adhere the extra piece of the sleeve that was cut up onto the left side of the card base as shown.
  • Mount the Tahitian tide panel with the confetti & stripes to the card base.
  • Punch a Tahitian Tide circle using the Decorative Circle punch.
  • Use kit’s white die-cut circle, and stamp the sentiment “It’s your day” (from the kit) in Tahitian tide ink toward the bottom of the circle.
  • Mount cupcake die cut (from the kit) using Stampin’ dimensionals onto the circle.
  • Mount the decorated die-cut circle onto the Tahitian Tide Decorative punch shape using Stampin’ dimensionals.
  • Add a bow of Tahitian Tide Metallic Woven ribbon.
  • Stamp Happy Birthday on the inside of the card.

Here is the Baby card.

Here’s How to make the Welcome Baby Card.

  • Cut a piece of Mango Melody to 4-1/4 X 11; Score on the 11″side at 5.5″
  • Cut a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of Calypso Coral
  • Cut the Dandy Designs DSP to 3.75″ x 5″. Mount the DSP onto the Calypso Coral piece.
  • Cut two (2) pieces of 2″ x 3-1/4″ of Crushed Curry
  • Cut up the yellow sleeve at score lines. Mount each of the 1-3/4″ x 3″ pieces onto Crushed Curry.
  • Mount the two pieces as shown in the picture.
  • Using Layering Circles dies, cut a scalloped piece in Calypso COral & a smaller circle in Crushed Curry.
  • Using Calypso Coral, ink up the “Special Delivery” stamp from the kit & stamp onto the Crushed Curry Panel.
  • Add Fun Flower Resin Shapes to the front of the card.
Use the partial sleeve to create a gift card holder on the inside of the card

For the inside of the card:

  • Take the sleeve’s front section & the two 1/4″ scored sections which were leftover from the front panel cutting.
  • Use bone bolder & burnish the 1/4″ sections.
  • Add tear & tape adhesive from the kit to the 1/4″ section only!
  • Fold over the 1/4″ with tear & tape adhesive & adhere to the inside of card creating a “tunnel” or opening where you can slide in a gift card.

I hope you’ve liked this projects. Be sure to sign up in advance (prior to 1/10) for the next Paper Pumpkin; it’ll be all about Valentines Day!

Thanks so much for stopping & be sure to come back tomorrow for more cards with this Paper Pumpkin kit. Marilyn (aka MJ)
