Autumn’s arrived

Hi friends! I’m happy that Autumn has finally arrived. Our trees haven’t changed in STL but the temperatures are definitely cooler. So today I have a fall inspired card that I made for two challenges.

I used the sketch & colors from The Fusion Challenge. As you can see, I flipped the sketch.

I used the wonderful host paper from the July-December’22 mini catalog called “Celebrate Everything”. It easy to miss on the last page, but don’t because it has all the seasons represented. That DSP was mounted on Crushed Curry & adhered to a Crumb Cake card base.

For the sentiment panel, I diecut a Basic White Stylish Shape circle & used our large flat watercolor brush to add Crushed Curry & Granny Apple Green. I swiped a couple of times & let them be. I wanted a non-uniform look.

Using Evening Evergreen I stamped the sentiment from the Wildlife Wonder Stamp set. A couple of leaves from “Nuts about Squirrels” in Granny Apple Green were added. That layer was stacked on top of a Decorative Circle punch & then a larger Stylish Shapes diecut in Crushed Curry.

Last I tied Evening Evergreen ribbon with a piece of Twisted Twine for interest.

The 2nd challenge I used for inspiration was Tic Tac Toe I picked the top row- leaves, ribbon & Autumn colors.

Don’t forget about Free Shipping tomorrow for product orders over $75 (before shipping & tax). Have a great Monday!

Not too Scary Halloween

Happy Monday, friends!

Here’s the third card we made at our Friday card class. It was a simple card as our other two cards were a little more time consuming. See these two here: watercolor wash card & Apple Harvest card.

The base of the card is Gorgeous Grape which was embossed with Gingham EF. The DSP with those cute little ghosts & jack-o’-laterns is from the Celebrate Everything Host pack. It’s amazing- 48 sheets of DSP with lots of fall & Christmas papers. So awesome for the fall & season’s holiday cards!

The DSP was mounted on a piece of pumpkin pie. The Alphabest bundle (stamp set & punch) was used with Stazon ink to create the letters “BOO!”. A strip of Basic Black cardstock was added across the bottom to “ground” the letters.

My favorite ribbon, the black & white Gingham ribbon was added around the top of the card. Last, Elegant Faceted gems were added to the DSP in upper right corner.

I hope you like this not too scary Halloween card. here’s one last look. Have a great week! Marilyn (aka MJ)

Apple Harvest

Hi friends! I am sharing one of the cards we will be making at Card Class today plus a few pictures from our Colorado trip.

I started with a 4″ x 5.25″ panel of Granny Apple Green. I stamped my sentiment from the stamp set along the bottom. Next I added a triangle of the host DSP called Celebrate Everything. TIP: Cut a piece of 4″ x 5.25 of DSP & cut it on the diagonal. I stamped & die-cut my apple tree branch image & colored using Poppy Parade, Granny Apple Green & Crumb Cake Marvelous Markers. Yes, I used Poppy Parade and not Real Red & here’s why: Poppy Parade is a little more bright (or a little less intense) than Real red & I wanted the stamp’s shading to show.

Using dimensionals, I mounted my colored Tree Branch image on a 3″ x 4″ piece of Garden Green Cardstock. I placed it on top of the DSP & Granny Apple Green panel lining up the opposite corners along the diagonal of the DSP.

Finishing touches of a little Linen Thread bow and Red Rhinestones. The card shouts fall, don’t you think?

One of the things that I really enjoyed was a stop to a fruit farm, called Apple Blossom Farms. We got to sample their jar products including jellies, fruited hot sauce and peach salsa which I love with grilled chicken (yum!).

Raspberry bushes in the front and peach trees in the back; & beautiful mountain scenery
Do you see the little kitty on the dirt road?
That’s me picking (& eating) raspberries

Here’s one last look at the Apple Harvest card. Thanks for indulging me with the trip pictures.

Have a great day & weekend!

Brilliant Butterflies

Hi friends! The card I have for you today is a “Simple Stamping” card (#simplestamping).

I had these butterflies lying on my desk from a previous project. So I decided to color them in Daffodil Delight and Poppy Parade and coordinate with Black and White DSP. I just love this color combination!

It was super easy! I started with a 4 x 5.25″ of DSP. Then I cut it on the diagonal from one corner to the opposite corner to give me a triangle. This was mounted on a Basic Black card base. Next I colored my butterflies with dark and light Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends, our alcohol markers. Then I added a bit of Poppy Parade on select areas. Last I added the beautiful white sequins from the Adhesive backed Seasonal Sequins.

I’m including a super close up so you can see the sequins. Depending on the light & background paper, they can look white like the top two sequins or iridescent like the lower three sequins. Regardless of what color you see – they are gorgeous!

Have a great Friday, friends! Marilyn (aka MJ)

Weekly Special Card- Splendid Day & Summer Shadow Dies

Did you get the memo? Stampin’ Up is offering weekly specials again. Today I’m featuring two products from this week’s special deals- Splendid Day DSP & Shaded Summer dies.

Each week the discounted products will change. I don’t want you to miss out because tomorrow (Thursday, 9/8) the below deals will be over & we’ll see a new set discounted products.

This paper- oh my! It’s so soft & pretty. One side of each sheet is covered entirely with foil & white ink. I wish you could see it IRL as it’s always hard to capture the shine of foil on camera.

Splendid Day DSP
Copywrite- Stampin’Up

For my card, I started with a Soft Sea Foam card base & stamped tone on tone with Soft Sea Foam ink & one of the leaf stamps from the Splendid Day stamp set. Next I added some of the Fresh Freesia foil paper on one side of the card base.

On top of the Foil DSP, I added a layer of Soft Sea Foam cardstock that was embossed with the Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder. An open leaf in Fresh Freesia from the Splendid Stems dies was added. I used glue dots in just two places to allow a “lift off” the paper giving the card a little more dimension.

The flower was cut using two dies from the Shaded Summer dies. A more solid piece in Fresh Freesia topped with the open flower in the Splendid Day DSP & then popped up on dimensionals. Three Opal Rounds were placed to add to the shimmer & shine of the card.

Lovely You in Pretty Colors

Hi friends! Happy Labor Day to my US friends.

Today I have a pretty card featuring the colors from the Color Throwdown Challenge. I used Polished Pink, Rich Razzleberry, Flirty Flamingo and Garden Green.

The technique I used is a fun one when you have the “right” stamp set. The Lovely You” stamp set is just perfect with its smaller images.

I took a strip of Basic White card stock & put it across my Basic White card front. Then I stamped away. Next I used my Basic Black marker to draw lines. I stamped my Congratulations sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set. I added a few lines of color.

I mounted my stamped panel on a piece of Polished Pink & then mounted the entire panel on a thick Basic White card base.

I like the way it turned out. Lots of white space… Clean & Simple. Have a great day! Marilyn (aka MJ)

Sketch & Step-back Saturday

Hi friends! Happy Saturday! And happy long weekend!

Today I am sharing the sketch that I used yesterday. I’ll be sharing some of my favorite sketches from time to time. The new sketches will always be on a Saturday, but not every Saturday.

I usually don’t share a card that doesn’t have current product but I wanted to show you how you can take a card & make a similar one with whatever you have on hand. But you won’t be able to buy all the supplies for this one.

My card uses a 14 year old stamp and the rubber is in great shape and it stamps incredibly well. Gotta’ love how our SU! products hold up over time. The stamp is from a set called Thanksgiving Blessing. I think the image is ageless. The other stamps in the set are too, but the font is a bit old-school. Anyway, this stamp is 3.25 X 3′ even a larger size works such as 3.5 x 4 inches. I stamped it in Blackberry Bliss on Very Vanilla with lots of “white space” & it’s mounted on slightly larger piece of Blackberry Bliss. I set it aside so as to prepare the rest of the card.

My card base is also Blackberry Bliss. I embossed a 4 x 5.25 piece of Mango Melody with the Stripes & Splatter embossing folders (#157180-Currently available). Then I added a 1.5 x 5.25 piece of DSP. This is retired “Plaid Tidings” from 2020. I added my main panel using dimensionals.

Around at the top, I wrapped & made a bow in the retired Blackberry Bliss Striped Ribbon from 2021. Three orange/yellow Holiday Rhinestones from last year were added in the corner.

This sketch is so versatile, the image, the base and the side panel can all be size adjusted. I change up the papers & embellishments & sometimes it seems like you have a totally different card even though you are using the same sketch. Bounce back to yesterday to see the same sketch in action.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this Sketch & Step-back Saturday. Card.

Happy Weekend & Happy Stamping! Marilyn (aka MJ)

Santa Express Card Pack Card

Hi Friends & Happy Friday! Happy LONG weekend!

My card today is another #simplestamping card. Have you ever ordered the Memories & More Card Packs? I love them for pocket scrapbooking & Simple Stamping cards.

One side of the cards often have space for journaling & the other is artwork. The kits have lots more things; this one has designed acetate, wooden words & shapes & stickers.

SU offers card packs that work perfectly with the Cards. SPOILER ALERT: my friend Sally Nusbaum at The Gathering Place and I are designing a class for you using both the cards & envelopes and the card pack so you’ll have lots of holiday cards in no time. Stay tuned for more details.

My card & a few of the card pack contents

The center of the card “Joy, Peace & Love” is one of the cards; I cut 1/8” off all four side & then mounted it on a piece of Mint Macaron. The white layer is actually our White Velvet paper; it’s scrumptious! It has a little sparkle- very subtle & it feels so nice. A super close up below shows the detail (I hope).

I embossed the White velvet with the Wintery 3D folder & mounted it on my Mint Macaron card base. Then I cut a 1.5” x 5.25” piece of the Celebrate Everything DSP & mounted it on my white Velvet & added my main panel.

Last Chance for Sale-a-bration

I’m tempting you one last time with the marvelous Sale-a-bration (SAB) Wonderful World Stamp set & DSP- free with a $100 product purchase (before S/H & tax). Honestly, this is a must have set…some many options with these flowers.

And who doesn’t love a big flower?! I stamped it in Highland Heather. Then I inked up the circle from Watercolor Shapes with Fresh Freesia & stamped off. I then lightly spritzed the circle stamp with water & then stamped it right on top of the flower. I really like how it turned out. What do you think?

I mounted my floral image panel onto Highland Heather cardstock & then that was applied to a Fresh Freesia card base. The sentiment is from a set called Celebrating You. It was stamped in Highland Heather & mounted on skinny strip of Highland Heather cardstock.

In the top left corner, I poked two holes side by side & threaded the Fresh Freesia open weave ribbon down & then back up.

I hope you like it! Be sure to get your orders in before the end of the day to Take advantage of free merchandise.

Have a great Wednesday friends! Marilyn (aka MJ)
