Halloween Haunting

Hi friends!

Happy October! Last week I put out our Halloween decor around the house. I love the change of seasons & I love refreshing the look of our home with seasonal decor. So I was in the mood for creating a Halloween card.

I’m just crazy about the Black Glittered speciality paper in our mini catalog. For one thing, the glitter doesn’t rub off & secondly it sparkles so very bright. Below is a close up.

You really need to see it in person! I paired it with our black glittered ribbon for a little extra sparkle.

The sketch is an old favorite. I’ll be making 11 more of this exact card for a card swap so I wanted it to be easy to duplicate but I didn’t want it to be plain. The DSP squares & the glitter paper & ribbon give it a real “WOW”.

Below is another view.

Supplies
Cardstock: Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Black
DSP: Cute Halloween
Speciality Paper: Black Glittered
Stamps: Banner Year
Ink: Black Stazon
Punch: Cat
Dies: Layering Circles, Tasteful Labels
Accessories: Black Glittered ribbon

Let me know what you think.

Happy Stamping! MJ

Awesome Autumn with Blackberry Beauty Ephemera

Hi friends! Today I’m sharing two cards I made using the Blackberry Beauty ephemera pack from our mini catalog. Same basic layout & papers, the only major difference is the die cut. The colors inspired by this suite are stunning, don’t you think?!

I started with a card base of Rich Razzleberry. I taped down a stencil from our Basic Patterns Decorative Masks. I used my silicone mat & some scrap paper to keep my work surface clean. Next I used our blender brushes & Blackberry Bliss ink to create the stenciled background.

While letting my stenciled card base dry. I embossed a piece of Early Espresso using our Hammered Metal 3D EF & layered it on a piece of Cinnamon Cider.

If you look closely at the embossing on the two cards, you will see that one has the embossed side & the other a de-bossed side. Looks great either way, right?

The sentiment panels were made with 1/2” piece of Cinnamon Cider & 3/4” piece of Rich Razzleberry. The sentiment is from Banner Year. The Lovely Labels pick-a-punch was used on both cards but I chose the two different styles offered with this punch. To finish the card, Brushed Metallic Adhesive dots were added; gold on the oak leaves card & copper on the owl card.

Have a great day! Marilyn

Autumn Card- a Mini Catalog Case

Hi friends! Happy Monday!

Today I’m sharing a card that was cased from the July- December catalog on page 54.

I just love the Harvest Season bundle & coordinating products yet; I have the DSP & ribbon but I haven’t purchased the stamps & dies yet. So I substituted Garden Wishes stamps & Dandy Wishes dies from the annual catalog (page 23).

Mini Catalog July- December 2021

I pulled a few tricks out of my stamping hat. First, for the dandelions… I used my Stamparatus & inked the leaves with Soft Succulent. I used my shammy to “erase” any green on the flower part & stamped on Very Vanilla card stock. Then, I used the brush end of my Calypso Coral marker & colored the flower part of the stamp. It works best if you stamp the lightest color first so if there’s a little light color remaining, it will be covered by the darker color.

My second trick was coloring the diamond weave ribbon. I used a four drops of Calypso Coral re-inker and 91% isopropyl alcohol in a small leak-proof container. I let it soak for 15 minutes & then laid it out on paper towels & let it dry overnight. The alcohol (vs. water) quickens the drying process; if in a time crunch, use your heat tool.
