Frosty with Stenciled Snowflakes

Hi friends! Today I have a fun & quick card that was created with the November 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit. I just love Christmas carols, stories and movies. Whenever I see a super cute snowman, I think of “Frosty the Snowman”. So I am naming my card “Frosty” because I can; after all, it is my card. LOL!

Anyway, the kit was originally designed as treat holders, but I wasn’t planning on sharing this sized treats this holiday so I re-purposed the contents.

I made my card base in Poppy Parade. Next, I mixed a small amount of our Matte Finish embossing paste with a few drops of Pool Party; then I used the Snowflake stencil in our Adorning Designs Decorative masks to stencil onto the card front. The snowflakes turned out looking more gray than blue because of the Poppy Parade paper, but even though I didn’t anticipate this, I do like it. BTW, these masks are going to retire at the end of the month; so grab yours now.

You can speed up the drying process by using your heat gun. But I wasn’t in a hurry so, I waited until the following day to adhere the snowman to the front allowing the sides and bottom extend past the card front. Then I trimmed down the snowman at the edges. I inked up only “Merry” from the kit sentiment’s “Merry Christmas” and stamped it on the front.

My Posts during the holidays will be inconsistent. We’ll be spending a lot of time with family. But I’ll still be escaping to my studio for some mood enhancement & I’ll share my creations as time allows. If you don’t want to miss a thing, sign up to follow me.

Ghirardelli Double Treat Holder

Hi friends! I have a fun treat holder for you today. It’s actually more like a sleeve. And SO easy.

One of my book clubs gathered last evening & I wanted a little something for them but didn’t want them to feel obligated to reciprocate. So I purchased twin packs of Ghirardelli chocolates.

Cut a piece of 5.75”X 3.25” Real Red cardstock. I have a large stack of this size paper left from another project & I’m happy it worked out.

Score at 2, 2.25, 4.25 & 4.5. Burnish the edges. Then fold up like a candy bar wrapper & adhere with Stampin Seal+.

I didn’t have time for die-cutting so I stamped in Real Red a sentiment from Christmas to Remember stamp set & punched out with the Everyday Label punch. Also Holiday Hugs DSP was punched & rotated 90* & adhered with Mono liquid glue.

I decorated the tag with a bow made of Real Red Stitched Grosgrain ribbon from the Playful Pets duo pack. The Cute Stars stars were also added. Here’s a close up

The blue one was made for my dear friend who’s Jewish. I used a scrap piece of retired Dapper Denim, Beauty of the Earth DSP, sentiment from November’21 Paper Pumpkin, White Glittered Organdy ribbon & again Cute Stars.

I hope you have a great weekend! Happy Stamping, Marilyn (aka MJ)

Masculine Birthday

Hi friends!

Today I’m sharing a masculine birthday card. I love this Beauty of the Earth DSP. So much so, that I didn’t want to cover it up.

So I chose Mary Fish’s Stampin Pretty sketch #34. It’s really very versatile. She has an entire sketchbook that’s filled with great ideas.

I cut the DSP at 5 x 3.75 & mounted on a piece of 5.25 x 4 Merry Merlot cardstock. I wrapped a piece of Early Espresso Faux Suede ribbon around the DSP panel.

My sentiment from the Happiest of Birthdays set is stamped in Merry Merlot & cut it using the Stitched Rectangle dies. The diecut sentiment was then mounted on a Merry Merlot diecut from the Tasteful Labels dies.

The sentiment was mounted on the DSP panel which was mounted on a Cinnamon Cider cardbase.

I ended up cutting the entire sheet which made 7 more DSP pieces (total of 8). I’ll duplicate this card & add the extras to my stash.

Happy Stamping! Have a great weekend & I’ll see you again on Monday.

A Little Smile

Hi Friends!

I have a fun little kit to share with you. It’s called “A Little Smile”. And who wouldn’t smile with this beach themed kit? The below picture shows the kit as it was intended to be made.

The kit makes small gift enclosure cards & has matching envelopes. And can be given as a set in the acetate case with the kit. Below are my cards.

I wanted a few cards for our friends who take off to warmer climates to avoid our Midwest winter. So I made cards by using the card fronts, and kit elements; and mounted on full sized card bases. A total of nine cards were made easily.

The palm trees & watercolor-like backgrounds are part of the kit. I used “Timeless Tropical” stamp set for the sentiment. The colors are Basic White, Crumb Cake, Old Olive and Bermuda Bay. Plus I still have lots of elements left for more cards.

I hope you’ll consider this kit- at just $19 (pre-tax & pre shipping) it is a real value.

One Design, Three Ways

Hi Friends & Happy Wednesday!

Today I have three cards for you. Naturally, you should see the similarities. Each has an embossed panel, ink blending, a Whimsical Tree, and the horizontal element.

I was at a crop recently & a friend loaned me her Whimsical Tree dies. I designed the card below & then diecut a load of these trees to bring home. I planned on using the card as my template & make more with all those diecut Whimsical trees. I was inspired by Rachel Woollard’s card seen HERE

I loved the way Rachel shaded her background & the placement of her tree. I then set out to make it my own.

I grounded my card with a strip of Real Red cardstock & a piece of the retired sale-a-bration Peaceful Prints. Wink of Stella highlight the tree which is topped with a gold star. The “Christmas Wishes” sentiment is from the “Banner Year” stamp set. Three Red Rhinestones add a little bling to this clean & simple card.

I changed a few things on my next card but it’s still easy & simple.

I added Embossing Paste on the tree & used two pieces of DSP; the Real Red piece is from “Heartwarming Hugs” & the Evening Evergreen/Soft Succulent piece is from Annual catalog’s “Tidings of Christmas” DSP. I love these fun & bright prints.

The background is blended with Soft Succulent ink. The tree star is one of the “Cute Stars” in Highland Heather. The sentiment is from our October Paper Pumpkin. The dark green jewels are from the Annual catalog & called Holiday Rhinestone Jewels”. I really like how the paste looks on the tree!

My last card is totally stepped up but you can still see the similarities, right?!

I decided to amp up with gold metallics including the Gold Metallic Paper behind the white panel & on top of the Evening Evergreen card base. Also used on the scalloped oval.

I pulled out two of my favorites that carried over to this year from the Jan-July ‘20 catalog, specifically, the Gold Leafing on the tree & the Fine Art ribbon. I tied a bow with the gold elegant trim on the ribbon. The sentiment is from the “Merriest Moments” stamp set. Champagne Rhinestones from the current mini catalog add a little more sparkle.

I hope you like these three cards & are inspired to make cards similar yet with different products for a totally different feel. Which one is your favorite? I got a “thumbs up” from the “Sports Fan” here.

Thanks for stopping & have a great day! Happy Stamping, Marilyn (aka MJ)

Easy Peachy Day Cards

Hi friends!

I have three cards for you today with the same layout. I’ve been making cards to bundle as holiday gifts & I want to keep them quick & easy.

When I do these gift bundles, I pick a suite of products. This bundle is “You’re a Peach” as seen on page 60-61 of the Stampin’ Up Annual Catalog. I chose the coordinating Designer Series Paper (DSP) Sweet as a Peach. Then I gathered coordinating cardstock, ink and embellishments. That’s what I love most about Stampin’ Up- it all coordinates perfectly.

The card base is 8.5 x 5.5 in Calypso Coral & Thick Basic White cardstock. The next layer is 5.25 x 4 in Pear Pizzazz cardstock. The DSP is cut at 3.75 x 5. With one sheet of 12×12 DSP, you will get six panels with a little left over that you can use to decorate the inside of your cards or save for your other cards.

I designed the sentiments a little different. I used layering circles dies, double oval punch and the Tailored Tag punch. The middle card has a strip of leftover DSP instead of ribbon.

I hope you like these quick & easy cards! Have a peachy day!

Shaded Summer in Magenta

Hi Friends!

I rarely make non-A2 (4.25 x 5.5) cards but I wanted to mix it up a bit so I made this 6 x 6 square card.

Years ago I bought a box of large, square envelopes & in my stamp stash I have a Stampin Up set with the stamp “extra postage required”- perfect for this card. I saved the set as I knew it come in handy. I have no idea the year it was made but I’ve been stamping since 2005 so it could be quite old. Anyone know? Regardless, the image is still crisp & clean. Gotta’ love Stampin’Up’s quality!

A black & white card paired with a bold color makes such a classy card, don’t you think? Here my black and white focal point is surrounded by Magenta Madness. To keep the the diamond design & break up the large Magenta Madness border, I scored the front diagonally.

I used the Shaded Summer stamp set & the free Sale-a-bration dies to cut the beautiful flower image stamped in black ink. (Unfortunately, Sale-a-bration is over so I hope you took advantage of getting the dies). I popped the image up with dimensionals & put it on a black & white diamond platform.

On the inside I used the smaller floral image & double stamped in black & the less bold Polished Pink . I left plenty of room on the inside for a personal message. If you’re going big with the card size, go big & write a long, lovely note to the recipient.

It was enjoyable to mix it up by creating this larger card, but definitely challenging! And to me, artistic challenges are always fun.

Supplies: All Stampin’Up
Stamps: Shaded Summer
Cardstock: Basic Black, Basic White, Magenta Madness
Ink: Tuxedo Black Momento, Polished Pink
Dies: Shaded Summer (Sale-a-bration retired)

Have a great Wednesday & Happy Stamping! Marilyn (aka MJ)
