Weekly Special Card- Splendid Day & Summer Shadow Dies

Did you get the memo? Stampin’ Up is offering weekly specials again. Today I’m featuring two products from this week’s special deals- Splendid Day DSP & Shaded Summer dies.

Each week the discounted products will change. I don’t want you to miss out because tomorrow (Thursday, 9/8) the below deals will be over & we’ll see a new set discounted products.

This paper- oh my! It’s so soft & pretty. One side of each sheet is covered entirely with foil & white ink. I wish you could see it IRL as it’s always hard to capture the shine of foil on camera.

Splendid Day DSP
Copywrite- Stampin’Up

For my card, I started with a Soft Sea Foam card base & stamped tone on tone with Soft Sea Foam ink & one of the leaf stamps from the Splendid Day stamp set. Next I added some of the Fresh Freesia foil paper on one side of the card base.

On top of the Foil DSP, I added a layer of Soft Sea Foam cardstock that was embossed with the Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder. An open leaf in Fresh Freesia from the Splendid Stems dies was added. I used glue dots in just two places to allow a “lift off” the paper giving the card a little more dimension.

The flower was cut using two dies from the Shaded Summer dies. A more solid piece in Fresh Freesia topped with the open flower in the Splendid Day DSP & then popped up on dimensionals. Three Opal Rounds were placed to add to the shimmer & shine of the card.

Two Days Left for Sale-a-bration’s Wonderful World

Happy Monday, friends!

Wonderful World SAB

My card today features another Sale-a-bration set of products. You have ONLY two days to order this beautiful suite of products called Wonderful World. Below are pictures of the catalog pages…just look at that gorgeous paper.

Wonderful World
Stampin’ Up Artists share their ideas

I just love the Stampin’ Up catalogs because they are filled with great ideas for card-making. They help me think “outside the box”. But today my card is a “go-to” sketch for me; definitely an “inside the box” sketch.

We made this card in my Card Class. We usually have a time consuming card & then I add two more quicker cards. This is one of the fast cards & it’s card base is Flirty Flamingo.

We added a piece of DSP measuring 4 x 3 to the lower section of the card base. When you cut your DSP into 4×3 pieces, you get 12 pieces- plenty to make duplicates.

The flower was stamped onto a scalloped rectangle die cut from the Scalloped Contours dies using our Stamp-a-ratus. After centering the big floral image, we used a sponge dauber to pick up ink from the Flirty Flamingo ink pad & we tapped it onto the flower part of the stamp. Then we used Pear Pizzazz ink pad & dauber for the stem. Using the stamp-a-ratus, we could go back & re-ink any areas we missed. Next we inked the scalloped edges with the dauber.

If you hold the inked sponge dauber & paper exactly perpendicular to each other, you transfer just a little color to the edges.

From the Baker’s Twine Essential Pack we added a white bow to the stems.

Ta-da! A quick & beautiful card.

Have a great week! Happy Stamping, Marilyn (aka MJ)

Floral Trio with Wonderful World

Good morning, friends! I have a card to share with you that has no stamping except for the inside sentiment. Crazy, I know, right!?

I have been using my free Sale-a-bration papers and stamps pretty frequently here but that’s because I want to show you all the ways you can use these amazing products.

I cut some of the Wonderful World Designer Series Paper (DSP) to 2.25 X 5.5. I added some color with a strip of Orchid Oasis & an embossed piece of Pear Pizzazz. I used the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder. It’s not obvious in the picture but in real life, the recipient will notice the texture. I wrapped a piece of 1/8″ Metallic Woven ribbon in Orchid Oasis & tied a bow. Isn’t it stunning?

Next I cropped three flowers from the DSP using the Stylish Shapes dies. Then mounted them along the side using dimensionals.

A white layer was added to the interior since the base is BlackBerry Bliss. As I often do, I left the inside blank so I can write a personal note.

The Sale-a-bration promotion ends on 8/31, so be sure to order soon. Some of my friends have ordered their supplies for Christmas/Holiday cards & cashed in on the free savings. I’m here for you if you need help designing cards; that’s one of my favorite things to do! Please use my HOST code if you do shop at my store.

Doesn’t get any easier than this, friends! I think this sketch might end up being a swap card because it is simple to make multiples. What colors would you like to see?

Have a great weekend! I just might sneak in another blog post this weekend, but definitely check back on Monday to see another card.

Happy Stamping, Marilyn (aka MJ)

Fun Fold- Nuts about YOU!!

Today I am sharing the fun fold I made for my Card Class this upcoming Friday. It’s usually the 4th Friday of the month in my home in Chesterfield MO. So if you’re in the St. Louis area, I’d love to connect with you. I don’t usually share the cards before the class but this is an exceptional week. And, unfortunately, I had to cancel my class.

My Mr. started feeling like he had a cold on Monday. We both gave each other that inquisitive look. Aren’t we all conditioned to think of COVID these days? Since we were to meet friends for lunch today, we thought he’d better test. Sure enough, his home COVID test was positive. He’s doing fine except for a terrible headache, fatigue & mild sore throat. But I’m keeping my retired RN eyes on him. Like most metro areas, we still have a fair amount of COVID, but it seems we have this milder variant where many vaccinated & boosted folks (like my Mr.) get better without hospitalization. Thankfully, mine was negative this morning.

So I masked up & went grocery shopping this afternoon- stocked up on my Mr’s favorite food & drink & got a few things for myself, just in case. {wink, wink} And now I’m rushing around like a mad lady to get everything done in case I fall ill. Since I’m cancelling card class, I’m making kits for my peeps. I don’t want to disappoint my wonderful friends.

I created a PDF for my peeps; if you would like to receive it, please follow me on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/StampwithMJ.MarilynJones & then comment that you’d like the PDF.

If you’re already a follower- thank you. Please comment so I know to send you the PDF too.

Stay Healthy & Happy Stamping, Marilyn

Another Splendid Day

Hi Friends! How are you? Only a few days left in June; then here comes July! And the new July-December mini & the Sale-a-Bration (SAB) catalogs. WooHoo!

My card today features a something from both catalogs. The Splendid Day Designer Series Paper (DSP) is in the mini catalog. The DSP pack has 12, 12×12, double sided sheets that have one side covered with foil & white ink. It’s stunning!

The item from the SAB catalog was also featured on my Monday’s post. The product is Pool Party & Soft Sea Foam cards & envelopes. There’s 10 Pool Party cards & 10 Soft Sea Foam & 20 coordinating envelopes. The packet is free with a purchase of $50 merchandise.

I used the Soft Sea Foam card base & 5 scraps of DSP mounted on a piece of Soft Sea Foam card stock. Then a different piece of DSP was alongside the other piece. Fresh Freesia open weave ribbon was tied in a bow.

Last, using the sentiment from Flowers of Friendship was stamped in Fresh Freesia onto Soft Sea Foam & punched out with the Double Oval punch. The sentiment was mounted on a copper foil scalloped oval from the punch.

Have a great week! Happy Stamping, Marilyn (aka MJ)

Pretty Abstract Beauty

Hi friends! Happy Wednesday! Today I have a pretty card for you using the Abstract Beauty DSP & the Hello Beautiful stamps & dies from our January-June mini catalog. Even though our new 2022-2023 Annual Catalog is launching in May, we still have our mini catalog until the month of June. Whoot!!

This is such a fun stamp & die set- geometric & a few little wonky shapes. And guess what? Yes- the stamp & die set are in the new 2022-2023 Annual Catalog. BUT you won’t see the bundled price carry over. To get it now, use this link: Hello Beautiful. And you won’t see this Abstract Beauty DSP again. But, ME always the optimist you can get the DSP now. Click on my store or use this link to order. I’ve added the products to the bottom for your convenience.

Here is the sketch I created. The picture is a little deceiving but the large Night of Navy hexagon’s center was cut so that the center is open & the DSP peeking thru. (Alternatively you could cut a smaller hexagon with the DSP & adhere above a solid Night of Navy hexagon but I was being stingy with the DSP. I think the floral DSP & the geometric shapes are so on trend…just like Stampin’ Up. Love these colors too.

Hello Beautiful sketch- MJ #001

I stamped the solid wonky oval in Polished Pink onto the Basic White wonky oval diecut. The sentiment is from the set & stamped in Black Momento. To add a little sparkle, I added the 2021-2023 In Color Jewels in Polished Pink. These jewels are also retiring & on sale (20% off) & they are still available as of Tuesday evening. So gorgeous!

Below are two close up shots.

That’s it for me today! I’ve been busy with creating for my card classes. I am enjoying thinking about my stamping friends & what they would like to create. Fun folds & techniques are always favorites as well as new products.

Stay well & have a great week!

Ladybug inspiration from Card Class

Hi friends! I’ve got a really wonderful card to share with you. Wonderful because it was inspired by a couple of my friends & card class participants. I LOVE that we share ideas in class. I think I learn as much from the participants as they learn from me. Anyway, do you remember the ladybug card from April 6th.

The next classes are this Friday at 1p.m. & again at 7p.m. Then Sunday 24th at 2p.m. Registration deadline is today at 7 p.m. Email me if you’re interested.

I mentioned that you could flip the paper over the paper & make a black/white and red card instead of the Granny Apple Green & Crushed Curry side. Two friends did just that & it looked great. I had an extra kit cut so I decided to adapt the card using the”other side” of the paper.

Did I already mention that I love this bundle?! Ha- ha only a ‘gazillion times” right?! Anything with a punch is so quick & easy. Although I love our dies, the punches are especially good for mass production and card classes.

On this card, I flipped over the papers & added another ladybug & changed up the sentiment. I was inspired by Pinterest but this isn’t an exact copy; otherwise I would give credit to the creator. So many ideas out there- I grabbed an idea from here & there. Below are a couple of close-ups of my card.

Buffalo checks have been around for a while but still popular & I still love that black/white look! The dotted background is perfect for stamping on directly like I did with the sentiment. The Pattern Party papers will be missed as they were in a huge package of DSP as host gift. (If you love it too, you could host an on-line party before the end of April; just a $150 order qualifies. Connect with me if you’re interested).

I wrapped & frayed the ends of the black white twine from the soon retiring “Playful Pets” trim combo pack (20% off & in stock on Sunday). Black Matte dots were added. That’s it- easy peasy!

I hope you like this alternative to March’s card class card.

Have a great Monday, friends! Happy Stamping, Marilyn (aka MJ)
